Pakems Donates Shoes to Denver’s Homeless

Colorado Shoe Company Gives 700 pairs to Denver Rescue Mission

Denver, CO (November 20, 2013) – Today at 10:00 am Pakems, a Colorado-based footwear company, is donating 700 pairs of its lightweight, water-resistant and warm shoes to the Denver Rescue Mission for distribution to area individuals and families in need. Pakems, created by Colorado businesswoman, Julie Adams, are lightweight, packable shoes, designed for men and women on the go.

“We take our role in our community very seriously,” says Pakems founder Julie Adams.  “We have been extraordinarily fortunate, but we also know that there are many men, women and children here who struggle.  We’re happy to donate some of our shoes, knowing that they’ll be going to people who need them.”

The Denver Rescue Mission is the Rocky Mountain area’s oldest Christian charity, offering a growing range of services for people in need since 1892.  According to Adams, “It’s impossible not to support the longstanding work of the Denver Rescue Mission, especially this time of year. It’s our way of giving thanks to them for what they do.”

Shipping coordinator, Marcy Schroedel, reached out to UPS and asked that a truck and driver be donated for the move. “UPS immediately agreed and saw it as a way to give back. I was shocked at how willing a large company jumped at the chance to help,” Schroedel said.

Pakems are engineered to be lightweight and packable so they can easily be taken anywhere. Every pair are sold with a matching bag that can be worn over the shoulder like a small messenger bag. These shoes are fast becoming the before-and-after shoe for winter activities and just a great shoe to wear around the city when the weather turns colder.

This winter they will help the men and women of the Denver Rescue Mission stay a little bit dryer.
