Seth Rogen And Lauren Miller Head To The University Of Vermont To Celebrate HFC U Winners

Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Raised More Than $27,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association in Hilarity For Charity’s Inaugural Collegiate Challenge

The Three Month Program Raised More Than $128,500

LOS ANGELES, CA, APRIL 18, 2014 – UCONN’s Huskies may have won the big game, but they aren’t the only school celebrating. Hilarity for Charity’s (HFC) nationwide collegiate program HFC U announced that the University Of Vermont’s Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity beat out the more than 270 student organizations and college campuses in the fight to raise the most funds for Alzheimer’s Association. Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller will head to the campus to host a special advance screening (with a Q&A to follow) of Universal Pictures’ upcoming comedy “Neighbors”, starring Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne.

HFC U’s inaugural three-month-long program aimed to encourage students to throw their very own Hilarity For Charity event to help raise awareness and much needed funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. University Of Vermont’s Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity raised more than $27,000 and the overall program topped $128,567.

“We are psyched to see the overwhelming dedication of all of the college students involved,” said Rogen. “I didn’t go to college, but if I did, I can’t say my priority would have been thinking about Alzheimer’s.”

Added Miller, “This just further proves that Alzheimer’s affects all generations, and that young people are ready to get involved in making a difference. I can’t wait to see how students come together for the next semester of HFC U in the fall.”

HFC is a unique movement using the power of laughter to bring attention to Alzheimer’s disease that is led by husband and wife duo Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller. HFC and its initiatives are working to change the mindset that Alzheimer’s disease not only affects an older generation, but younger generations as well. Early-onset Alzheimer’s has been known to develop between the age of 30 and 40, and few diseases require such intense care that it greatly affects entire families. With more than five million Americans living with the disease, and that number expected to triple in our lifetimes, it is imperative to engage and educate a younger generation.

They later established the Hilarity for Charity Fund as part of the National Alzheimer’s Association, through which monies raised will be directed to help families struggling with Alzheimer’s care, increase support groups nationwide, and fund cutting-edge research.
