Leadership team addition solidifies Foundation’s long term commitment to BE THERE for families tackling childhood cancer

NEW YORK, NYThe Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation today announced it has appointed Lynn Chwatsky as Managing Director of New York/New Jersey. Chwatsky is joining the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund in a full-time position after several years of supporting the organization as a volunteer. Chwatsky’s responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations in New York/New Jersey, implementing program management activities and large scale partnerships, and fund development. She will continue overall Foundation momentum, which will help solidify the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund’s legacy in the New York and New Jersey Metropolitan areas for years to come.

Chwatsky’s appointment allows the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund’s current management team to focus even more on the Foundation’s mission to BE THERE for families tackling childhood cancer by providing financial, emotional and practical support. Prior to joining the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund, Chwatsky was the Vice President of Community Outreach Initiatives and Partnerships at Sesame Street where she managed large-scale initiatives that provided support and guidance to those children and families in need. These programs included Sesame Street for Military Families, as well as initiatives for children who have experienced the death of a parent, children of the incarcerated, and children with a life threatening illness.

“Lynn’s addition to our team is just one more way we are striving to BE THERE in a big way for New York and New Jersey families tackling childhood cancer,” said Keli Coughlin, Executive Director of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. “Her previous experience in the nonprofit world, combined with her expertise with building partnerships and programs, will help take us to the next level in the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area.”

“We started the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund with one principle in mind – to always BE THERE for families with childhood cancer,” said Tom Coughlin, Founder of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. “With Lynn joining the New York/New Jersey team, I’m confident she will help grow our programs, partnerships and support base and allow us to continue to BE THERE for our families for many years to come.”

“I’m both humbled and honored to be joining such an incredible organization with a powerful mission like the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund,” said Chwatsky. “The stories of the families who have been touched by the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund are inspiring and full of love. They will be my compass and passion as I work to heighten awareness and bring much-needed support to those in the NJ/NY metropolitan area who are facing the unthinkable.”

In 2012, Chwatsky received the Outstanding Civilian Service Award, an award given to civilians who make a substantial contribution to the military. Lynn was part of an esteemed group to receive the award including Coach Tom Coughlin. Chwatsky earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. She resides in New York City with her husband, and their two kids.

ABOUT THE TOM COUGHLIN JAY FUND FOUNDATION

The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation was created in 1996 in honor of Jay McGillis. Jay was a special young man who developed leukemia while a member of Coach Coughlin’s team at Boston College. In the eight months between Jay’s diagnosis and the day he lost his battle with cancer, the Coughlin family saw first-hand the physical, emotional and financial strains the illness caused the McGillis family. After going through the tragic events with Jay’s family, Coach Coughlin vowed that if he ever had the chance, he would create a way to help families with children battling cancer. Coach Coughlin kept his vow and started a foundation to BE THERE in Jay’s honor. Since then the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund has evolved in size and scope, helping thousands of families in Northeast Florida and the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan Area who are fighting childhood cancer.
