President Bill Clinton And Chelsea Clinton Release 2017 Impact Report On The Work Of The Clinton Foundation

Report shows growing impact of its programs to create economic opportunity, improve public health, and inspire civic engagement and service; charts path forward in 2018

Press Release – New York, NY — The Clinton Foundation released its 2017 Impact Report today, which highlights how its programs improve lives across the United States and around the world by creating economic opportunity, improving public health, and inspiring civic engagement and service.

The Report can be found at clintonfoundation.org/impact.

“It has been a productive time for the Clinton Foundation. We continued the life-changing work around the world that many of you know us for and we also devoted more resources to our U.S. efforts,” said President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton in a letter accompanying the release of the Report. “Every day, we build upon the simple belief that everyone deserves a chance to succeed, everyone has a responsibility to act, and that we all do better when we work together.”

For more than 17 years, the Clinton Foundation has worked with partners to improve lives across the United States and around the world. The Report synthesizes the Foundation’s history of impact into three core issue areas – creating economic opportunity, improving public health, and inspiring civic engagement and public service, and connects them with President Clinton’s lifetime of public service.

The Foundation has also produced a 30-second digital ad, released exclusively on social media, to help broader audiences understand and share its continued mission, work, and impact. To view the digital ad, please click here.

Over the course of 2017 and 2018, the Clinton Foundation has worked with partners to expand existing programs and create new ones where there is significant impact. This includes efforts to:

  • Strengthen the commitment between the Alliance for a Healthier Generation – a partnership between the Clinton Foundation and American Heart Association – and McDonald’s to improve healthy options for kids on menus worldwide;
  • Facilitate new agreements through the Clinton Climate Initiative to support a green energy transition in small island nations such as Antigua & Barbuda, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent & the Grenadines;
  • Launch expanded efforts by the Clinton Development Initiative to create economic opportunities for farmers by helping them increase the quality and quantity of their production in Malawi, Rwanda, and Tanzania;
  • Launch a new Clinton Global Initiative Action Network to help Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Caribbean recover and rebuild for resilience in the wake of the devastating 2017 hurricane season;
  • Mark a decade of students turning ideas into action with the 10th annual meeting of Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) at Northeastern University, and announcing the next CGI U meeting to be held October 19-21, 2018 at the University of Chicago;
  • Build upon the Clinton Health Matters Initiative’s community health work in more than six communities, including a new partnership with the County of San Diego and The San Diego Foundation to help local at-risk youth;
  • Expand partnerships with the Clinton Health Matters Initiative. For example, with Adapt Pharmaceuticals, we are providing all colleges and universities across the U.S. who request it access to the opioid overdose reversal drug, naloxone;
  • Enhance the experience of local students, educators, community members, and visitors through new cultural and educational exhibits at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas;
  • Continue growing the Presidential Leadership Scholars program, a one-of-a-kind partnership that brings together community leaders to learn from the administrations of President Bill Clinton, President George W. Bush, President George H.W. Bush, and President Lyndon Baines Johnson; and
  • Distribute Too Small to Fail’s critical early learning materials to families and educators through clinics, playgrounds, laundromats, and child care centers. To date, we have distributed more than 901k books and launched more than 150 playgrounds that incorporate Too Small’s early learning panels.

The release is also timed with the Foundation’s annual gala to both inform and celebrate beneficiaries, partners, supporters, and staff who continue to make the Foundation’s life-changing work possible. Independent charity evaluators such as Charity Navigator, CharityWatch, GuideStar, and the Better Business Bureau have given the Foundation top ratings for its operational effectiveness, transparency, and governance.
